ETHIOPIA: MURSI

LOWER OMO VALLEY

Since Mursi women wear their hair cropped very short, almost all women generally wear intricate headdresses of unique designs made of branches, marsh mollusks and dried fruit. Head adornments can also be made from just about anything they find including cartridge casings, horns of animals or feathers. Used for both food and decoration, Marula fruits have a yellow skin with white flesh, and are succulent and tart with a strong and distinctive
flavor. They are rich in Vitamin C and have about eight times the amount found in an orange.
